DUNCAN, S.C. — A 19-year-old convenience store worker in Duncan faces a charge of intent to defraud after investigators said he redeemed lottery tickets without paying, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said.

SLED said Joseph Antoniyo Waller was charged Thursday with intent to defraud using counterfeit game tickets.

According to an arrest warrant, surveillance video from Sept. 29 shows Waller scanning, scratching and redeeming South Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off tickets without paying for them while working at the Circle K on East Main Street in Duncan. Store management identified him from the footage.

The South Carolina Education Lottery requested the SLED investigation.

Waller was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
