DUNCAN, S.C. — State highway crews shut the Pine Ridge Road crossing over the Middle Tyger River on Friday morning so engineers can size up repairs near Duncan.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation listed the span as S-42-77 and said a full repair schedule will wait until that evaluation finishes.

Drivers are being sent around the river crossing on U.S. 29, Groce Road and Spartanburg Road. Nearby segments of Pine Ridge Road stay open only for neighborhood trips.

SCDOT urged motorists to ease off the throttle and watch for workers while the detour is active.

The agency said the Friday, Oct. 16, shutdown covers the Duncan-area span linking neighborhoods across the Middle Tyger inside Spartanburg County.
