NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — USC Upstate was one set away from a road win Saturday night in North Charleston, S.C., but Charleston Southern rallied to take the final three sets and beat the Spartans 3-2 in Big South volleyball.

Upstate won the first two sets 28-26 and 25-16, then dropped the next three by 27-25, 25-21 and 15-11. The Spartans took the opener on a Tien Murray ace and then ran away with the second, closing it on a 5-0 burst.

The turn came in a third set that went past 25. With the score even at 25, two Spartan errors handed the Bucs the frame. Charleston Southern won the fourth and then scored four straight points after trailing 6-4 in the deciding set.
