The [Hub City Spartanburgers](/sports-spartanburg-sc/) rewrote their own record book on Sunday afternoon in Asheville, N.C., pouring in 19 runs in a 19-12 series finale victory over the Asheville Tourists that set a new franchise single-game runs record. The previous franchise best of 18 runs was surpassed as Hub City and Asheville combined for 34 hits across three hours and 44 minutes of High-A South Atlantic League baseball.

The game’s final score of 19-12 did not come without drama. Asheville mounted counter-offense throughout, as both clubs traded big innings in what became an offensive showcase at Tourist Field. The 34 combined hits reflected both teams’ ability to make contact, but Hub City’s pitching staff and lineup ultimately proved the difference in the slugfest, with the ‘Burgers scoring runs in bunches and protecting the lead when Asheville threatened.

The 19-run performance surpasses the previous Hub City franchise record of 18 runs. The [Spartanburgers](/sports-spartanburg-sc/) have now established a new high-water mark for offensive production in a single game since the franchise’s inception, a milestone that speaks to the power and depth in their High-A lineup. Minor League Baseball’s High-A South Atlantic League has been home to some big-offense contests, but Sunday’s output from Hub City stands as the program’s defining offensive statement.

The win caps a series against Asheville that included multiple high-scoring contests. Hub City entered Sunday’s finale having defeated Asheville 7-3 on Saturday, May 16, in a more conventional game. The offensive explosion Sunday offered fans of the Spartanburgers a memorable road performance heading into a stretch of the High-A calendar that will bring the team back to Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg.

Hub City is the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The Spartanburgers have built a reputation for run production in 2026, with Sunday’s record effort representing the season’s apex. The team had also scored four home runs in a win over Asheville earlier in the series on May 12, and had previously executed a doubleheader sweep with a walk-off against Wilmington on May 7. The club’s recent stretch against Asheville — six games spanning May 12-17 — ended with the ‘Burgers taking the series behind Sunday’s historic performance.

For Spartanburg fans who follow the team’s road trips, Sunday’s game offered a highlight that will stand as one of the most talked-about single-game performances in Spartanburger history. Fifth Third Park is located at 100 Duncan Street in downtown Spartanburg, and the team will return home for upcoming games in May and June.
