Courtroom scene highlighting the importance of justice in child abuse cases

News Summary

A couple from Spartanburg County faces serious charges of child abuse stemming from allegations dating back to 2021. Crystal Ann Steiner has been denied bond, while Randy Steiner received a $50,000 bond under strict conditions for separate charges involving criminal sexual conduct and child abuse. The case highlights severe injuries inflicted on their child, alongside another arrest in the region for child-related misconduct. Authorities stress the importance of community vigilance in child welfare.

Spartanburg, SC – A couple from Spartanburg County has been charged with child abuse following serious allegations involving their child dating back to 2021. Crystal Ann Steiner, aged 35, has been denied bond during a recent court appearance, while her partner, Randy Steiner, has been granted a $50,000 surety bond under stringent conditions for a separate charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree.

The court, however, did not address Randy Steiner’s other charge, which involves the abuse of a child causing great bodily injury. This charge had previously seen him receive a $20,000 bond. The Seventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office is actively involved in the ongoing case against the Steiners, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations.

The charges against the couple stem from a report made in January 2021, which detailed extensive abuse inflicted upon their child. Reports indicate the child suffered from multiple injuries, including cigarette burns and bruises across various parts of the body and neck. Medical assessments revealed that these injuries were consistent with being inflicted by a thin flexible object, such as a cord, and suggested signs of defensive injuries, which may indicate that the child attempted to protect themselves from the abuse.

In a separate incident, Timothy Bryant Cash, 33, a part-time assistant fire chief at the Mayo Area Fire Station, has also been arrested for child-related abuse. Cash has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. Allegations indicate that his misconduct occurred within the fire department, and the incident was captured on video, prompting immediate action from law enforcement authorities.

Cash was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center following his arrest but was subsequently released later the same night. In light of the allegations against him, Cash has been placed on administrative leave by the Mayo Area Fire District as the investigation continues.

As these cases unfold, more details are expected to be released. The authorities are urging anyone with additional information related to these incidents or similar occurrences to come forward. Child safety and the protection of minors remain paramount concerns within the Spartanburg County jurisdiction, and law enforcement is actively working to address and mitigate incidences of child abuse.

The incidents involving both the Steiners and Cash raise important questions regarding child welfare and the enforcement of laws surrounding child abuse in the region. Officials emphasize the critical need for community vigilance and reporting suspected abuse to protect vulnerable children.

At this time, the Spartanburg County community awaits further developments concerning these serious allegations, with the judicial process set to take its course in the pursuit of justice for the affected children involved.
