Spartanburg County Scores Big
Big news from Spartanburg County, where the local community college has just snagged a hefty chunk of change to help them with a pretty exciting new project. Spartanburg Community College (SCC) is now $400,000 richer, thanks to a grant award from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
What’s SCC Up To?
Let me tell you, they didn’t just sit on that money. They’re using it to support their one-of-a-kind project, amusingly called BOOST. It’s short for the Building Opportunities for Outstanding Skills Training in Advanced Manufacturing for Southeastern Two-Year Colleges. Quite a mouthful, isn’t it?
But behind that long name is a simple, yet brilliant, concept. SCC wants to solidify the bond between two-year colleges and the advanced manufacturing industry. The ultimate goal? To create a stable stream of ace professionals, prepped and primed to take on the increasingly complex demands of the modern workforce.
Boosting Education with BOOST
SCC isn’t in this alone, though. They’re teaming up with a couple of other educational institutions, Tidewater Community College in Virginia and Northeast State Community College in Tennessee. Together, they’re working on developing and implementing strategies that will improve skills training and workforce readiness across the whole Southeastern United States.
This initiative met the objectives of the NSF-EPIIC grant program, which aims to promote innovation through partnerships. And wouldn’t you know it, SCC’s among the first to receive these funds!
What it Means for SCC
With this newfound funding, SCC is ready to charge full steam ahead with their mission. They aim to provide top-notch education and training that keep up with the ever-changing needs of both their students and future employers.

If you’re looking to declutter your dorm room, a small sofa or a loveseat could be your best bet. It’ll free up some floor space and make your tiny abode feel a tad more spacious.
And, if you’re keen on capturing the true spirit of autumn, you might want to stock up on seasonal decorations pronto! Hit the stores before the best ones sell out. A particular favorite is the iconic 12-foot skeleton from a well-known home improvement store (I won’t say which, you’ll have to guess that!).
