# Wael Farouk Headlines Carlos Moseley Chamber Series Finale at Converse April 20

The 2025-26 The Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series — named for the longtime New York Philharmonic leader who served as its managing director, president, and chairman — at Converse University concludes Monday, April 20 with a recital by Egyptian-American pianist Wael Farouk, a performer with deep ties to Spartanburg who has since built an international career. The performance takes place at Daniel Recital Hall beginning at 7:30 PM.

Farouk earned his Master of Music in Piano Performance at Converse in 2006, studying under Doug Weeks, and has spent the two decades since performing throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. He now teaches at the Manhattan School of Music and maintains a repertoire of more than 70 concertos and 60 recital programs. The New York Concert Review has described him as “formidable and magnificent,” and the Westphalen Bielefelder Zeitung praised his “absolute pianistic mastery.”

His return to Spartanburg for the Carlos Moseley Series finale closes a loop for a musician who first developed his artistry in this city — and gives Spartanburg audiences a rare opportunity to hear a world-class pianist in an intimate chamber setting.

## The Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series

The Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series is named for Carlos DuPré Moseley, a Spartanburg native who served as chairman of the New York Philharmonic and was a pivotal figure in American cultural life. The series reflects his legacy by bringing internationally recognized performers to Spartanburg in the intimate setting of Daniel Recital Hall at Converse University, located at 405 Blackman Music Circle.

The series has hosted an extraordinary roster of artists over the years, including Yo-Yo Ma and Marilyn Horne, establishing itself as one of the finest chamber music presenting organizations in the Southeast.
