Spartanburg, South Carolina – Xoted Biotechnology Labs has officially launched its research and development facility at the Spark Center of Spartanburg Community College on May 8, 2025. This substantial initiative marks a key development for the county, with a total investment of $4.2 million aimed at advancing biotechnology practices and sustainable product development.

The new facility, a subsidiary of DRC Ventures and its parent company TRB Holdings, is set to generate 34 new jobs in the area, bolstering local economies while focusing on research in several promising areas. These areas include plant-based detoxification, seed research, oil refinement, and applications relevant to next-generation textiles and cleanroom operations.

Research and development efforts have already commenced within the Spark Center, while plans for a new clean manufacturing facility are underway. Xoted aims to establish itself as a hub for STEM educational and research opportunities, creating a platform for collaborations with Spartanburg Community College and other higher education institutions. The initiative is anticipated to significantly enhance the biotechnology education landscape in the region.

The launch has been characterized as a transformative leap forward for both Spartanburg and the state of South Carolina, representing an important step towards economic diversification and prosperity. Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt underscored the value of the skilled STEM jobs that Xoted will provide, seeing this development as a positive boon for the workforce.

The project signifies not only an investment in local infrastructure but also contributes to the long-term vision of sustainability and innovation. Christina Rahm, the founder and chief science officer of DRC Ventures, stressed that the main focus lies in sustainable science, which aims to detoxify both humans and the environment.

Xoted’s operations are expected to unfold over four phases of manufacturing, with additional expansion plans envisioned throughout South Carolina. The facility will leverage the expertise and innovative capacities already evident in the Spark Center, which has a proven track record of assisting over 150 companies and generating over $4.1 billion in economic output for the state, as well as creating approximately 125,000 jobs.

Furthermore, DRC Ventures boasts a global footprint, with operations in nearly 90 countries, holding seven U.S. patents, and offering more than 200 trademarked manufacturing processes. The focus of the company spans several industries, including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, skincare, animal health, and environmental solutions.

The establishment of Xoted Biotechnology Labs at the Spark Center promises to be a catalyst for innovation, creating a ripple effect of opportunities in education, research, and the burgeoning biotechnology sector in Spartanburg County. With its commitment to sustainability and job creation, Xoted seeks to not only serve the regional community but also contribute significantly to shaping the future of biotechnology in the state.
