Athletic Program Overview

Spartanburg High School is the flagship of District 7 and the only four-time National Blue Ribbon Award winner in United States history. The Vikings compete in SCHSL 5A across 22 varsity sports from a state-of-the-art 177-acre campus that opened in 2019.

Facilities

The athletic complex includes a 7,500-seat football stadium, 2,500-seat arena, competition track, eight-lane tennis complex, regulation baseball and softball fields, and a 1,000-seat performing arts center. The new campus represents a 100 million dollar investment by District 7 in east Spartanburg.

Sports Programs

The Vikings field 22 varsity sports including football, basketball (boys and girls), baseball, softball, soccer (boys and girls), tennis (boys and girls), golf (boys and girls), swimming and diving, wrestling, track and field, cross country, volleyball, lacrosse, and cheerleading. The football program plays home games at Viking Stadium, one of the premier high school venues in the state.

Tradition

Spartanburg High has a storied tradition in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field, regularly competing for region and state titles at the highest classification level. The school was the first in the nation to receive the Blue Ribbon Award four times, recognizing academic and athletic excellence.
