Details of the Crashes at Dorman High School

The initial crash took place between 8 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 221 N and Cavalier Way. In this incident, a Spartanburg School District Six van collided with a vehicle driven by Paola Flores Sanchez, who has since been charged and arrested. Thankfully, no injuries were reported from this crash.

The second crash occurred later in the day around 2 p.m. at the front entrance of Dorman High School, situated near Highway 221 N. Following this crash, traffic was rerouted, leading to potential delays in student dismissals. As of now, injuries related to the second crash have yet to be confirmed.

Seperate Incident at CVS

In a related incident, a vehicle crashed into a CVS located at 303 East Rutherford Street in Landrum, causing structural damage to the building, particularly its entrance. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, and the public has been advised to avoid the parking lot during the ongoing response. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and CVS management has indicated they will notify the city regarding plans for reopening.

Fatal Accident Involving Teenagers

In a separate and tragic event, a multi-vehicle accident on April 22 resulted in the deaths of three teenagers from Spartanburg County: 15-year-old Daniel Diaz, 16-year-old Aben Sisk, and 17-year-old Itzel Garcia-Trejo. The accident occurred at the intersection of Fairforest Clevedale Road and Old Blackstock Road when the teens, who were in a 2004 Dodge pickup truck, attempted to turn onto Fairforest Clevedale Road and collided with a tractor-trailer.

Daniel Diaz and Aben Sisk were pronounced dead at the scene, while Itzel Garcia-Trejo succumbed to her injuries later at Spartanburg Medical Center. Additionally, a person in a 2010 Chevrolet sustained injuries in the same accident and is currently receiving treatment at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident. The deaths of the teenagers have prompted an outpouring of grief and concern within the local school community, leading Spartanburg County School District Six to provide counseling and support services for both students and staff affected by the tragedy.
