Hub City Spartanburgers Season Update: Rangers Prospects Return for 2026 Campaign

The Hub City Spartanburgers are in the early weeks of their second season at Fifth Third Park, carrying the momentum of a South Atlantic League South Division championship into 2026 as the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.

The season opened April 3 against the Frederick Keys, High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, with Hub City now hosting the Greenville Drive for a six-game series this week. The ‘Burgers opened the year 1-4 in their first five games before finding their footing. Today’s game against Greenville is scheduled for 4:35 PM and will be broadcast on CW62, which will air 15 Spartanburgers games during the 2026 season with 7NEWS Sports Director Pete Yanity calling play-by-play.

The team returns a roster built around 25 players from last year’s division championship squad, supplemented by six of the Rangers’ top 30 prospects as ranked by MLB Pipeline. Leading the prospect list is left-handed pitcher Dalton Pence, ranked No. 12 in the organization, who posted a 1.55 ERA in 14 appearances for Hub City last season. Outfielder Gleider Figuereo, who led the Spartanburgers with 18 home runs in 2025, is back along with infielder Arturo Disla, who added nine home runs of his own.

New Manager, Familiar Faces

The Spartanburgers enter 2026 under new manager Carlos Maldonado, who brings six years of managerial experience within the Rangers organization, including three seasons managing at the Single-A level with Down East and Hickory. Maldonado is joined by hitting coach Brian Pozos, pitching coach Mason Milkey, and development coaches Jorge Cortes and Landon Lassiter.

Speed will be a weapon for Hub City this year. Outfielder Anthony Gutierrez, a Venezuelan prospect ranked No. 29 in the Rangers system, finished second in the South Atlantic League in stolen bases last season with 48. Right-handed pitcher Aidan Curry, who earned the first postseason win in Spartanburgers history, also returns to the mound this season.

Fifth Third Park, located at 300 W. Henry Street in downtown Spartanburg, holds 5,250 fans and features 328-foot lines with a 410-foot center field. Tickets are available by calling 864-594-0701 or at the Hub City Spartanburgers website. The full 66-game home schedule runs through September.
