Music on Main Returns to Morgan Square Every Thursday Starting in April

Music on Main is back on Morgan Square, with the beloved free outdoor concert series returning to downtown Spartanburg every Thursday from April through August, 5:30 to 8:30 PM. The series, presented by the City of Spartanburg, kicks off its 2026 run this month and will continue each week through the end of summer.

Music on Main is one of Spartanburg’s most popular recurring events, drawing residents and visitors from across the county to the heart of downtown for an evening of live music, open air, and community. Morgan Square, located at 108 West Main Street, transforms each Thursday into a gathering place where friends meet after work, families spread out on the square, and the sounds of live bands carry through the evening air.

The musical lineup each week rotates through an eclectic range of genres — from blues to reggae, rock, soul, and beyond — with the City selecting acts known for high-energy performances and broad appeal. The series is free to attend, making it one of the most accessible entertainment options in the Upstate through the summer months.

New in 2026: Thursdays Extended Through August

This year brings a notable addition to the Music on Main calendar: the City of Spartanburg has extended the Thursday schedule to include the month of August, running the series further into summer than in previous years. The expanded schedule reflects the series’ continued popularity and the city’s investment in activating Morgan Square as a year-round community destination.

The event runs rain or shine, though weather cancellations may apply. Coolers are not permitted at the event, and attendees are asked to leave pets at home. Parking is available at lots throughout the downtown area. Food trucks and local vendors are sometimes present, and the city’s downtown restaurants and bars provide additional options for attendees looking to extend the evening.

The City of Spartanburg is also accepting applications from dessert vendors who want to participate in the 2026 Music on Main series. Those interested can contact the City of Spartanburg for details at cityofspartanburg.org.
