BMW Manufacturing’s Greer plant, the world’s largest BMW production facility by volume, continues its major expansion as the automaker shifts toward electric vehicle production at its South Carolina operations.
BMW Group has invested billions in Spartanburg County, where it produces X-series vehicles for global distribution. The plant employs thousands of workers directly and tens of thousands more in the regional supply chain.
The Spartanburg plant is central to BMW’s global strategy for electric mobility, with significant EV production capacity being added to handle growing demand for electric X models.
BMW Manufacturing is one of Spartanburg County’s largest employers and a cornerstone of the Upstate SC automotive manufacturing ecosystem that also includes Michelin North America and dozens of suppliers.
