Meet the All-Spartanburg Area High School Girls Basketball Team, 2024 Player of the Year

Spartanburg, SC – The All-Spartanburg area high school girls basketball team for 2024 has been announced, with standout player Shyrique Parker from Blacksburg earning the title of Player of the Year. Let’s take a closer look at the talented roster for this year:

Player of the Year

Shyrique Parker, Blacksburg | Senior

Parker showcased her dynamic skills on the court throughout the season, ranking fourth in the state in scoring with an impressive average of 25.0 points per game. In addition to her scoring prowess, she also contributed 10.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 3.8 steals, and 22 blocked shots. Parker’s outstanding performance earned her the title of all-state player and Region 1-AA Player of the Year. She also reached a significant milestone in her career by surpassing 1,000 points. Blacksburg finished with a solid record of 13-12, going 9-1 in region play.

First Team

Savannah Brown, Landrum | Senior

Brown led Landrum to its first-ever state final appearance, averaging 15.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 181 assists. She also recorded 69 steals during the season, showcasing her all-around contribution to the team’s success. With a remarkable victory margin of 43.2 points in league play, Landrum finished with a 27-4 record, going 9-1 in Region 2-AA. Brown’s efforts earned her an all-state recognition.

Te’Ericka Dowling, Byrnes | Junior

Dowling, a junior standout, averaged 16.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 46 steals, and 16 blocked shots during the season. With over 1,000 career points already to her name, Dowling has established herself as a key player for Byrnes. She is a two-time all-state player and played a crucial role in Byrnes’ 17-9 record, including a playoff victory.

Shiriah Harris, Gaffney | Sophomore

Harris emerged as a top scorer for Gaffney, averaging 18.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Her contributions helped Gaffney to a 21-6 record, with two wins in the state playoffs and a spot in the Upper State semifinals. Harris was the leading scorer in Region 2-AAAAA and received all-state honors for her performance.

Tianah Hopper, Gaffney | Freshman

As a freshman, Hopper made a significant impact, earning an all-state recognition for her impressive stats. She averaged 16.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and 43 blocked shots during the season. With 480 career points already to her name, Hopper is a rising star in the high school basketball scene.
