This change is expected to attract more foot traffic, enhancing the brewery’s presence in the community, while maintaining its diverse beverage offerings.

Spartanburg, SC – Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery to Relocate by August 2025

Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery is set to relocate to a new site near the Mary Black Rail Trail by August 1, 2025, following construction delays that pushed back their initial opening date from March 2025. The new location will be positioned between Union Street and the Mary Black Rail Trail, next to the Boxcar Apartments.

The decision to move comes in light of rising rent costs at their current location on East St. John Street, where Ciclops faced a significant increase of more than double their previous lease rate, creating an unsustainable financial burden for the business.

Enhanced Offerings at New Location

The new brewery space will be larger and will include increased outdoor seating, enhanced viewing capabilities with more televisions, and a broader menu that does not carry the previous food restrictions imposed at the current site.

At present, Ciclops is limited in the types of food it can serve due to restrictions set by their landlord, Stephen Wilson, who previously owned the adjacent Papa’s Breakfast Nook for 35 years. The upcoming move will enable Ciclops to introduce a full kitchen, allowing them to offer popular menu items such as French fries, burgers, charcuterie boards, hot sandwiches, appetizers, flatbreads, and <shrimp and grits made with beer cheese grits.

Increased Foot Traffic Anticipated

With the new location’s proximity to a 160-unit apartment complex and its placement along the Mary Black Rail Trail, which recorded over 14,000 users monthly from May 2024 to May 2025, Ciclops anticipates an increase in foot traffic. This development is expected to further attract customers and enhance the brewery’s visibility within the community.

Ciclops plans to maintain its 30-tap system, featuring 15 of its own beers, five house-made ciders, five rotating guest beers, and two taps dedicated to craft sodas and other specialty beverages. This robust selection is expected to appeal to a wide audience of craft beverage enthusiasts.

Transition Plans and Operations

The brewery will remain operational at its current site until at least the end of July 2025. Preparations for the move are being made to ensure minimal service interruptions during the transition. Should there be any changes to the scheduled move, Ciclops is prepared to implement operational adjustments as necessary.

The design of the new location will feature a contemporary industrial layout aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience, making it an appealing destination in Spartanburg.

Community Implications

Ciclops’ management expressed excitement about the forthcoming changes, particularly for the brewery’s 499 mug club members, who can look forward to the enhanced environment and expanded menu offerings. The brewery is committed to creating a space that combines quality food with good beer, underlining its role as a community hub within Spartanburg.

As the brewery prepares for its relocation over the next few months, it remains dedicated to delivering a seamless transition for its patrons and continuing to build on its reputation as a favorite spot for local craft beverage enthusiasts.
