About Nick Duncan

Duncan grew up in Laurens County and later pursued his education at the University of Tennessee and Greenville Technical College. Prior to his service in law enforcement, Duncan began his first responder career serving as a paramedic with Spartanburg County EMS. He joined the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in 2014 and, for the majority of his tenure, worked in the Criminal Investigations Unit.

Candidacy Announcement and Campaign Goals

Duncan made public his candidacy for the seat of Spartanburg County Sheriff with a strong focus on addressing the county’s drug issues. Moreover, he promises efforts to enhance community relations and promote transparency within the Sheriff’s Office.

According to his office, “Mr. Duncan is very open and looking forward to meeting with the citizens of Spartanburg County. He wants to make sure their thoughts and concerns are heard and addressed. He is committed to building a strong relationship between the Sheriff’s Office and the communities in which they serve.”

Challenging a 20-year Incumbent

Sheriff Chuck Wright, who has been serving Spartanburg County for the past two decades, will be faced with Duncan’s challenge in the upcoming election. Sheriff Wright’s long duration in office offers him experience, but Duncan hopes his fresh perspective and commitment to community-oriented policing will resonate with voters.

This electoral season, the race for Spartanburg County Sheriff is set to bring about potentially transformative changes for the community and local law enforcement. The proposed emphasis on improved community relations, heightened transparency, and comprehensive tackling of drug issues demonstrates an evolving approach to public safety and criminal justice. Duncan, as a former Spartanburg County corporal and paramedic, pledges to use his firsthand experience and knowledge of the community to foster these changes.

With the primary elections looming, citizens of Spartanburg County eagerly anticipate the results. Duncan, with his fresh perspective and potential for change, poses a significant challenge to longtime incumbent Sheriff Wright.
