Greenville County High Schools Shine in US News & World Report Rankings

Six high schools in Greenville County, South Carolina, have made their mark in the latest rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. These schools have secured spots among the top 25 best high schools in the state, showcasing their commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Greenville County Standouts

Leading the pack is Wade Hampton High School, claiming the 10th spot on the prestigious list. Following closely behind are Greenville Senior High School Academy at No. 13, Riverside High School at No. 19, Eastside High School at No. 20, Mauldin High School at No. 21, and J.L. Mann High School at No. 23.

Criteria for Ranking

The rankings were based on a thorough evaluation of each high school’s performance in several key areas. Factors such as college readiness, state assessment proficiency, and underserved student performance played a crucial role in determining the final rankings.

U.S. News & World Report’s methodology focused on six essential aspects, including College Readiness, State Assessment Proficiency, State Assessment Performance, Underserved Student Performance, College Curriculum Breadth, and Graduation Rate.

Upstate High Schools in the Spotlight

While Greenville County schools showcased their excellence, several high schools from Anderson and Spartanburg counties also secured notable positions on the list. T.L. Hanna High School claimed the 30th spot, followed by Powdersville High School at No. 34, Pendleton High School at No. 35, and Spartanburg High School at No. 37.

Other noteworthy mentions include Greenville Technical Charter High School at No. 49, High Point Academy at No. 71, and Legacy Early College at No. 73. Anderson Five Charter School, Berea High School, and Broome High School also made their mark in the rankings.

Top Performers in South Carolina

At the very top of the list is Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston, setting the standard for academic excellence in the state. Aiken Scholars Academy and Charleston School of the Arts also secured top positions, demonstrating their commitment to quality education.

Other top-performing schools include Palmetto Scholars Academy, Spring Hill High School, and Wando High School. Fort Mill High School, Mayo High for Math Science and Technology, and Chapin High School also earned accolades for their academic achievements.
