The Parks & Recreation Department is committed to improving your quality of life by offering a wide range of recreational programs and opportunities in secure, well-maintained parks and facilities. Last year, more than 150,000 people of all ages took part in a program, took a class, or visited a city leisure center or park at least once. All the fitness courses, sports, cultural arts, and other special events offered by Parks & Recreation Department are open to the general public and are either free or affordable.

Spartanburg SC City Parks

Airport Park

Location: 500 Ammons Rd.

This airport-themed park is located just in front of the Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport and features views of jets taking off and landing.

Andrews Farm Park

Location: 1370 Pinecrest Road

A lovely passive greenspace on the City’s Eastside near the Edward Griffin Preserves.

Barnet Park

Location: 248 East St. John Street

The seven-acre park, Spartanburg’s best outdoor events location, presents a variety of events throughout the year. It is located downtown, near the Chapman Cultural Center, and houses the Zimmerli Amphitheater, which seats around 1,100 people in the fixed seating section and up to 4,900 people on the terraced lawn.

Beaumont Mills Park

Location: 660 Southern Street

The park is located in the historic Beaumont Mills village.

Chapel Street Park

Location: 104 Chapel Street

The 1.2-acre Chapel Street Park, which serves as a magnificent entryway to the historic Cleveland Park neighborhood and adjacent Northside districts, is a popular location for community activities and neighborhood gatherings.

This fresh new playground is right in the middle of downtown! From June 7, 2021, through July 1, 2021, this playground will be closed to the public until 5:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays for private usage by Meeting Street Academy. The playground will be open to the public after 5:30 p.m. until dark on Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to dark on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Denny’s Plaza Playground

Location: 15 S Liberty St

This fresh new playground is right in the middle of downtown! This playground will be closed to the public for private use by Meeting Street Academy from June 7, 2021, until July 1, 2021. Monday through Thursday, after 5:30 p.m. till dark, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to dark.

Downtown Pocket Park

Location: West Main Street near Daniel Morgan Avenue

The Downtown Pocket Park, which opened in 2012, is located on West Main Street between the Masonic Temple and Carriage House Wines, immediately across from the Herald-Journal offices. A collaboration between Hub-Bub, Inc., the Masonic Temple, private residents, and the City transformed a vacant lot into a sanctuary in the center of downtown.

Duncan Park

Location: 81 West Park Drive

Duncan Park is a huge park and greenspace, including mountain bike paths, the historic Duncan Park baseball stadium, a pond, walking pathways, and much more.

Happy Hollow Park

Hillcrest Park

1445 Maryland Avenue

The Hillcrest area on the Eastside is home to one of the city’s oldest neighborhood parks.

Hot Spot Skate Park

This park is the first public skate park in the state of South Carolina.

Hub City Art Park

It is the city’s first dog park which opened in 2012.
