Summer collegiate baseball is coming to Spartanburg County this season with the arrival of the Spartanburg County Peaches, a new Blue Ridge League team that will play its home games at historic Jim Everhart Field in Inman. The team’s inaugural season opens May 30, giving Upstate fans another option for affordable, family-friendly baseball this summer.
The Peaches identity draws from both local baseball history and regional heritage. Inman and northern Spartanburg County have long been among South Carolina’s most productive peach-growing regions, and the Peaches name was previously used by minor league clubs in the area. The team’s logo centers on an “SC Peach” mark featuring the letters “SC” — representing both Spartanburg County and the state of South Carolina — set against a royal blue, peach orange, and golden yellow color palette.
Jim Everhart Field sits in the heart of Inman’s historic mill village, a setting that organizers describe as offering something rare in modern sports: a ballpark where many fans can walk from home. The venue has hosted generations of baseball players and fans dating back to the mill era, and the Peaches will continue that tradition while bringing collegiate wood-bat competition to the field for the first time.
Blue Ridge League Baseball
The Blue Ridge League is a summer collegiate wood-bat circuit focused on high-level play and strong community connection across the Carolinas and Southwest Virginia. Other South Carolina clubs in the league include the Joanna Hornets, who play in a renovated historic textile mill stadium, and the Greenwood Flying Monkeys, competing at Legion Field.
The Spartanburg County Baseball Club has secured a multi-year lease with Spartanburg County, providing long-term stability for the program. The American Legion team that has long used Jim Everhart Field will continue to do so on separate dates, preserving the field’s community role while expanding the baseball schedule.
The team will be coached by Spartanburg American Legion athletic director and head baseball coach Henry Lech. Skylar Horsley, a Western Carolina University alumnus, has been named the club’s first general manager. Games will take place primarily on weekends throughout the summer.
The inaugural season runs from late May through the end of July. Fans can sign up for updates, ticket information, and schedule announcements at scpeaches.com.
