Spartanburg Day School is officially bringing varsity football back to its campus for the first time in 41 years, with a full South Carolina Independent School Athletics (SCISA) varsity schedule set for fall 2026.

The program, led by head coach Patrick Moffitt, built momentum through a successful inaugural middle school season in 2024 and a junior varsity slate in 2025. Now the Panthers will compete at the varsity level in the independent school ranks.

“Friday Night Lights are coming back to Spartanburg Day School,” the school announced, generating significant excitement in the local sports community.

This marks a significant development for Spartanburg private school athletics and adds another football program to the county’s already competitive landscape.
