SPARTANBURG, S.C. — On Monday in Spartanburg, Wofford defensive back Eli Campbell was named Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week and also earned Stats Perform FCS National Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Campbell, a senior from Sanford, Florida, had two interceptions and a fumble recovery to help Wofford post its first shutout win since 2016, a 16-0 victory at Elon. Each takeaway happened in Elon territory, including a 35-yard interception return to the 4 that set up a second-quarter field goal.

He also had seven tackles, with five of them limiting the Phoenix to four yards or less. It is the first SoCon player of the week honor for Campbell and the third honor for the Terriers this season.

Campbell is the first Terrier to be named a National Player of the Week since Atkins Roberts in 2021. Mercer quarterback P.J. Pickles was the Offensive Player of the Week and Chattanooga kicker Jude Kelley was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Wofford next plays on the road at Kent State and at Chattanooga before returning home to host Southern Conference newcomer Tennessee Tech.
