SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Two Spartanburg County programs hold places among South Carolina’s top high school football teams heading into Week 9, with Dorman in the top three of one statewide ranking and Boiling Springs making a big jump.
In an algorithm-based composite ranking updated after Week 8, Dutch Fork holds the No. 1 spot with a 7-0 record. Northwestern remains No. 2, followed by Dorman and unbeaten James Island.
Boiling Springs makes the biggest move inside the Top 25, climbing nine spots to No. 14 after beating Rock Hill in overtime. A separate statewide Top 25 poll lists the Bulldogs’ latest result as a win that defeated then-No. 7 Rock Hill 30-23 in overtime.
Elsewhere in the composite ranking, South Pointe moves up one spot to complete the Top 5, while Gaffney and Fort Mill each climb three spots.
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, only four teams statewide still have hopes of a perfect season.
