Bill Murray — Emmy and Golden Globe winner, actor, and enduring symbol of unconventional celebrity — will lead the celebrity field at the 26th annual BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD Synnex this June in the Upstate.
Max Metcalf, BMW’s manager of government and community relations, announced the full celebrity lineup April 24 at BMW Manufacturing’s Performance Driving Center. Tournament week begins Monday, June 1, with official Korn Ferry Tour play running June 4-5 at the Country Club of Spartanburg and June 4-7 at Thornblade Club in Greer.
Murray won’t just be playing. His band, Bill Murray & His Blood Brothers, is scheduled to perform as the Saturday night special guest at 3’s Golf and Grubhouse, adding a live music element to a tournament week that organizers describe as expanded this year. The concert-within-a-tournament format is a new wrinkle for the event, which has steadily grown its off-course programming in recent editions.
Tournament director Michael McGovern said in a news release: “From on-course play to off-course experiences, there’s something for everyone.” The 2026 event is expected to draw approximately 45,000 spectators. An economic impact study from 2024 estimated the tournament generates more than $8.5 million for the region. The tournament benefits multiple local charities through its proceeds.
Former U.S. soccer star Clint Dempsey was also named to the celebrity lineup alongside Murray. The full roster beyond those two headliners has not yet been released. Both the Country Club of Spartanburg and Thornblade Club are hosting for the first time as the event’s new permanent venues after relocating from its previous course home.
Tournament organizers have scheduled a full week of events and community activities around the competitive rounds. The BMW Charity Pro-Am has been a fixture in the Upstate for over two decades, serving as one of the region’s largest annual charity fundraising events.
