HEAR HERE: Breeze Airways Opens GSP–Columbus Nonstop May 8, More Routes Coming

April 19, 2026 at 7:09 am · John Glenn Columbus International Airport | GSP Airport Press Releases

HEAR HERE — Not News Yet But What Is Being Said.

Breeze Airways is launching nonstop service between Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) and John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) beginning May 8, 2026. Flights will operate twice weekly — on Mondays and Fridays — and tickets are already available at flybreeze.com.

The GSP-Columbus route will be the 10th nonstop destination served by Breeze from Columbus. Breeze is also adding nonstop GSP service to Savannah and Tampa starting July 3, 2026, further expanding the low-cost carrier’s footprint at the airport.

GSP was named Best Small Airport in North America in 2025, and the new Breeze routes continue a pattern of route expansion that has made the airport increasingly competitive with larger regional hubs. The Columbus connection opens a new Ohio market corridor — particularly relevant for business travel and the region’s automotive supply chain relationships.

The route is part of a broader expansion by Breeze out of Columbus, which announced nine new nonstop destinations for 2026 across multiple markets.

Columbus is a smart market pick for Spartanburg. Strong auto industry connections, major university presence, and a growing tech sector. Mondays and Fridays is the right schedule for business travelers — fly out Monday morning, back Friday evening. Breeze priced it right too.

GSP keeps stacking wins. Best Small Airport in North America last year, now Breeze adding Columbus, Savannah, and Tampa in one announcement. The airport has become a genuine competitive advantage for this region. Hard to overstate how much easier this makes recruiting professionals.

I fly to Columbus three or four times a year for supplier meetings. Right now I'm connecting through Charlotte or Atlanta and losing half a day. A direct flight on Mondays and Fridays would be transformative for those trips. Already checked — tickets are live on flybreeze.com.

The Savannah and Tampa additions in July matter just as much. Savannah is a major logistics hub — huge for the regional supply chain crowd. Tampa is one of the fastest-growing metros in the Southeast. Breeze keeps expanding from GSP in ways that actually match where Spartanburg businesses operate.

Low-cost carrier service to Columbus opens the door for Ohio manufacturers scouting Upstate SC for expansion. The auto supply chain between BMW Spartanburg and Ohio-based suppliers is enormous. GSP accessibility has always been part of the pitch — now Breeze makes it a direct pitch.

GSP adding Columbus nonstop is underrated. That's a tech corridor connection — good for Upstate companies recruiting from Ohio.

Budget carriers add routes and then pull them 6 months later if load factors don't hit. Let's see if these stick.

Southwest started Nashville flights in March and now Breeze is adding Columbus. Competition is driving down fares. Win for travelers.
