Why it matters locally: the expansion reinforces Spartanburg’s automotive supplier base along the Upstate SC corridor and extends one of BMW’s longest-tenured Tier 1 partners deeper into the county.

ZF has been a steady anchor in the I-85 corridor for a while now. Curious whether these 30 positions are assembly-floor or engineering — that changes who Greenville Tech and Spartanburg Community College need to be training for.

$55.4M is real money, but what I'd like to see is whether this triggers new supplier footprint in Duncan or Wellford. Expansions usually drag 2-3 tier-one suppliers along within 18 months.

Good news on paper. I just hope the county is also tracking what 30 more households mean for housing supply out in the Duncan / Greer line. That market has been tight for two years.

Announced jobs and hired jobs aren't the same number. Let's circle back in 24 months and see what the payroll actually looks like.

Every time ZF expands I see more weekday lunch traffic at the places near Duncan. Small businesses along 290 benefit from this more than people realize.
