Power Up Spartanburg, the county-wide small business development initiative led by OneSpartanburg, Inc. and Spartanburg County, celebrates its third anniversary tonight with a public gathering at Carolina on Southport in Spartanburg. The event runs from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at 100 Southport Road and is open to the public.

Launched in 2023, Power Up Spartanburg was designed to make Spartanburg County the top place in the United States to start, run, and grow a small business. The program connects entrepreneurs and small business owners across all of Spartanburg County with resources to secure contracts with larger employers, access financing, find commercial space, and develop business skills through mentors, subject matter experts, and courses offered through Spartanburg Community College.

Power Up operates a mentoring model adapted from the MIT Venture Mentoring Service, pairing small business owners with trained mentors working in small groups. The program partners with OneSpartanburg, Inc. and Spartanburg Community College to deliver Power Up University workshops covering business planning, legal considerations, marketing, financials, and sales. The initiative is open to small businesses countywide, with particular emphasis on minority-owned businesses.

Power Up Spartanburg has also been integrated into the county’s broader talent pipeline. In the summer 2026 work-based learning program coordinated by OneSpartanburg, up to 100 small businesses supported by Power Up were designated to host high school student interns, alongside Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, and the county’s municipalities.

Tonight’s anniversary celebration is co-hosted by Power Up Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, and OneSpartanburg, Inc.
