The Hub City Spartanburgers turned their season around with a four-game winning streak at Greenville’s Fluor Field, closing out a six-game series against the Greenville Drive with four consecutive wins from April 30 through May 3. The run lifted the Spartanburgers’ record to 13-13 — matching the Drive’s own mark at the time — and marked one of the most productive stretches of the young 2026 South Atlantic League season for the Royals’ Low-A affiliate.
Hub City entered the series having dropped two straight to the Drive at Fluor Field, falling 12-6 on April 28 and then losing a 10-inning contest the following night. The turnaround began April 30, when the Spartanburgers took a 6-2 decision behind a pair of home runs — one from Luke Hanson, one from Rafe Perich — to earn the team’s first win of the road trip to Greenville.
Joe Adametz earned the victory in Game 4 on May 1 as Hub City posted a 7-1 win to even the series at three games apiece. Adametz reached career highs in the outing, helping the Spartanburgers build a six-run cushion before the seventh inning. The following night, May 2, Hub City came from behind to win 6-2 for its third straight victory. The decisive series finale arrived May 3, when outfielder Rafe Perich delivered the offensive performance of the week: a three-hit, five-RBI game that left him a double shy of the cycle, lifting Hub City to a 7-5 final and the series win. Starting pitcher DJ McCarty turned in a strong outing in that clinching game, giving the bullpen room to work with a comfortable lead.
Hub City then returned home to Fifth Third Park to open a six-game set against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. The Spartanburgers dropped the opener May 5 by a score of 14-8 in a high-scoring contest, moving to 13-14 on the season heading into the May 6 matchup. Play highlights from May 5 showed Yeison Morrobel doubling to score Malcolm Moore and Gleider Figuereo in a key sequence, with Moore and Figuereo both contributing in multiple situations throughout the night.
Through the early portion of the 2026 season, several Spartanburgers have stood out in the lineup. Outfielder Arturo Disla reached base five times in the series-opening loss to Greenville on April 28, including a go-ahead two-run home run in that game. Maxton Martin supplied six RBIs in the April 24 win over Winston-Salem, connecting on one of two home runs in that contest. Malcolm Moore has been a consistent presence in the lineup across the Greenville and Wilmington series stretches.
The Blue Rocks series at Fifth Third Park continues through May 10. Fans looking to catch the Spartanburgers at home can visit the team’s website for tickets and promotional schedule information.
