SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Seven auto-parts makers tied to Scout Motors detailed more than $82 million in Upstate expansions Wednesday, promising about 200 new jobs across Spartanburg, Duncan and Piedmont.
State and local officials joined supplier executives for the announcement. Scout Motors president and CEO Scott Keogh said building vehicles in South Carolina also means growing the supply chain here.
Spartanburg Steel leads the package with a $40 million stamping expansion and 60 jobs in Spartanburg. KV Final plans $14 million and 50 jobs for stamping components. Magna Mirrors and Cooper Standard each pledged $5 million and $3 million projects with 15 jobs apiece in Spartanburg for exterior mirrors and glass sealing systems.
In Piedmont, Magna DRIVE listed a $15 million project and 30 jobs for Class A stampings and Class B assemblies. Duncan additions include Röchling Automotive at $5 million and 15 jobs for grille shutters and wheel-arch liners, plus Bant Boru at $270,000 and 15 jobs for brake lines.
Scout is building a roughly $2 billion production center in Blythewood and still targets first customer deliveries in 2028. The companies already feed other South Carolina automakers such as BMW and will also ship to the Scout plant.
Allen Smith, president of OneSpartanburg Inc., said the expansions show how county plants fit into the next chapter of state auto manufacturing. Commerce Secretary Harry Lightsey called the pledges a sign of momentum from the Scout project.
