SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Wofford wasted little time Thursday night at Snyder Field, scoring less than three minutes in and rolling past VMI 3-0 in Spartanburg for its first Southern Conference win of the women’s soccer season.
Annie Andrews opened the scoring at 2:55 off assists from Maya Lake and Brooke Moody, her fifth goal of the year. It was the fourth time this season the Lake-to-Andrews combination has produced a goal. Betty Dovy drew a foul in the box, and Bailey Mullen made it 2-0 at 19:07 by converting the penalty kick in her final home game, and the Terriers carried that lead into halftime.
Julia Grier added the final goal at 66:07, her third of the season, with Delaney Minor setting it up.
Wofford controlled play from start to finish, outshooting the Keydets 19-5, putting 10 shots on target to VMI’s four and earning eight corner kicks to none.
The Terriers improved to 4-10-3 overall and 1-6-2 in league play. VMI fell to 0-17-1 and 0-9-0 and finishes its regular season at home Sunday against Samford at 2 p.m. Wofford travels to UNC Greensboro the same afternoon.
