Spartanburg, S.C. — A local anti-violence group called neighbors together Thursday night to talk about what comes next after a Halloween shooting outside a Cook Out killed two teenagers and wounded a third person.

The Stop the Violence Coalition described the session as an emergency community conversation focused on concrete steps. People in the room floated a possible youth curfew, and the group passed out packets pointing families to local help.

Shots were fired near 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Cook Out along John B. White Sr. Boulevard. Officers with the Spartanburg Police Department found two victims down in the lot; both later died after being taken for care. Police named them as 15-year-old Jayden Marek Watson and 17-year-old Shane Carter Dawkins of Spartanburg.

Chief Art Littlejohn said a third person was struck by gunfire and had injuries that were not life-threatening after a relative drove that person for treatment. No arrest has been announced, and investigators still want people who were on the property that night to call in what they saw.

The Criminal Investigations Division is taking tips at 864-596-2065 and 864-596-2035. Meeting leaders pressed parents to track where teenagers go, look through bags and bedrooms, and keep firearms secured while the case remains open.
